
Bengaluru: After several pro-Kannada outfits’ threatened to boycott ‘Baahubali 2’ which releases next week, actor Sathyaraj apologised for the anti-Kannadiga remark he made nine years ago when Tamilians where assaulted in Karnataka over the Cauvery water dispute. In ‘Baahubali’, Sathyaraj dons the role of ‘Kattappa’, one of the main characters.
Pro-Kannadiga outfits had said it will boycott ‘Baahubali 2’ and will not allow its release anywhere in Karnataka. It had also declared a bandh in the state on Apr 28, the release date of the film. Twenty theatres in Karnataka, which were still showing ‘Baahubali 1’, were also forcefully stopped.
In his apology, Sathyaraj said he is not against Kannadigas or Karnataka, and that he did not want the consequences of his actions to affect the hard work of thousands of people behind the film.
