Actresses wary of joining Women in Cinema Collective?

The newly formed Women in Cinema Collective seems to have received a lukewarm response since several actresses refrained from joining it. The rumours are that these actresses fear that they will lose opportunities in cinema if they join the organisation.

The Collective was recently formed under the initiative of Manju Warrier, Rima Kallingal, Anjali Menon, Vidhu Vincent and several other prominent actresses and directors.

There have also been allegations that only Left supporters were allowed to join the organisation. In the beginning, there was also some dispute after it was rumoured that dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi and actress Maala Parvathi were not taken into the organisation.
