Chandigarh: The Punjab government is planning to amend its Excise Act to bypass the Supreme Court order banning bars within a 500 metre radius of National Highways.
The government plans to amend Section 26A of the Excise Act of 1914 for this purpose. The decision has received the backing of the cabinet, and will come into effect if passed by the Legislature. The government plans to introduce the amendment in the Legislature during the Budget session.
