Bhubaneshwar: As each state in the country is competing for the welfare of cows, Odisha is gearing up to become the first state in the country to have a blood bank for cattle. The first of its kind, the blood bank would be established in the premises of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) with an estimated Rs 3.25 crore.
The proposal in this regard was earlier submitted to the National Agriculture Development Programme (NADP). The cattle farmers will provide blood voluntarily for the bank and the new initiative will prevent the death of cattle during deliveries and other ailments.
