Palakkad: The much celebrated Goods and Service Tax or GST is irreversibly affecting the price of all kinds of products in the state. Though GST subsumed the state and central tax, the chicken price soars in Kerala with a record price of 240 rupees.
Aiming to destabilise the poultry farms in Kerala, the Tamil Nadu lobby increased the price for chicken which also affected the domestic production here. After the GST rolled out, the poultry farms hike the chicken price by seven rupees which also caused price hike in Kerala by 16 rupees.
The chicken merchant association also expressed their displeasure over the steep increase of chicken price and they were reluctant to take new stocks.
