
After Twenty years of winning the prestigious Man Booker price for her debut novel,'The God of small things', Arundhati Roy has been nominated for her long-waited follow up for this year's Booker price.
Her second novel 'The Ministry of Utmost happiness'. is described by Booker judges as a 'rich and vital book comes from the bowels of India'. This year's list of contenders has a ratio of seven men to six woman, the same gender split as last year's long list.
A six-strong shortlist will be announced on 13 September ahead of the major announcement.
