
New Delhi: The Central government launched a new campaign named 'Harit Diwali Swasth Diwali' exhorts children to avoid crackers during Diwali celebrations .The government is targeting to control the air pollution caused by crackers during festive season.
The campaign was inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan. The main objective of the campaign is to create awareness and encourage people to combat air pollution. The minister also advised children to buy sweets for poor instead of buying crackers for celebration.
The government decided to launch the campaign on the basis of alarming reports stating the last year celebrations made a negative impact in the quality of air.
