
Lucknow: Around 23 people were killed and more than seventy were injured after an express train derailed in Uttar Pradesh. The fourteen coaches of the Puri- Haridwar high speed Utkal Express caught in an accident with one of them crashing into a nearby house, adjacent to the track in Khatauli near Muzaffarnagar.
The Railway officials accused their staffs for their negligence in alerting the train driver about the maintenance work on track by giving proper speed restriction signal. The accident occurred around 5:30 pm leaving one bogey climbing over another and the other one rushed into a college.The train was running at a speed of 106 kmph, while it should be limited to 10-15 kmph during maintenance on track.
According to the officials the death tolls and the causalities arw expected to rise.
