Chennai : The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday granted bail to Perarivalan, one of the convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, to visit his ailing mother. It is the first time Perarivalan has been given parole since his arrest in 1991.
Though the Supreme Court sentenced the convicts including Nalini and Perarivalan to death, it was commuted later. Perarivalan was sentenced to death for purchasing the 9-volt battery used in the bomb which Dhanu strapped around her waist for assassinating the former Prime Minister.
