
An RTI ( Right to Information) query has revealed that most Members of Parliament prefer to fly business or first class for official purpose at the cost of public exchequer. Most interestingly, MP's belonging to the Left parties have been found to spent the most travel allowances from the exchequer.
The RTI revealed that the total expenditure of Travel Allowance (TA) and Dearness Allowance (DA) of all members of the Lok Sabha in one year from April 2016 to March 2017 is Rs 95,70,01,830
This is due to the member's first class and business class air travel. Also five of the top ten MLA's with the most expenditure are from Kerala. CPM MP A Sambath, PK Sreemati, MB Rajesh. Congress MP KC Venugopal, KV Thomas, CP Narayan were the top spenders in the list.
According to the reports, MP Sambath has claimed Rs 38,19,300 and 32,58,739 rupees were spent by PK Sreemathi. While MB Rajesh's expenditure was Rs 30,27, 628, KC Venugopal also joins the list with an expenditure of 32,12,771 rupees.
