
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah's son Jay Shah will file a Rs 100 Crore defamation suit against a website, after a news report said a company owned by the latter had seen a sharp spike in revenues since May 2014.
In a statement released by Jay, he clarified that he would press criminal and civil defamation charges against the website. Denying the allegations, BJP also responded that, the article is solemnly intend to malign the reputation of the party.
The report, published in 'The Wire.in' said that the company's temple Enterprises Pvt Ltd was engaged in some activity in the financial years 2013-2014, but jumped to a turnover of Rs 80.5 Crore in 2015-2016. The company had taken an unsecured loan during the year for Rs Rs 15.78 Crore, the news report said, adding that it finally wound up in October 2016 after posting a loss.
"We finally found the only beneficiary of Demonetisation. It's not the RBI, the poor or the farmers. It's the Shah-in-Shah of Demo. Jai Amit," Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Saturday. Congress leader Kapil Sibal also asked that is the PM open and honest enough to ask the CBI to investigate into the case.
