
Kumali: At least nine people were killed and many people were injured in a forest fire in Teni district of Tamil Nadu.
Twenty-five people have been rescued and taken to the hospital in Bodinaickanur. Sources also said that nine people were reportedly trapped in the forest.
The trekkers-include a group of 27 people from Chennai and a batch of 35 people from Erode and Tirupur. They were on their way back from a trek to the Kurangani hills, where they got trapped in the fire.
A MI-17 Chopper of the Indian Air force is already in the place for the rescue operations. Meanwhile, the fire and rescue services are trying hard to douse the flames. The death toll is expected to rise.
