New Delhi: Amid shortage of currency notes in various cities, SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar on last day said that the problem of cash crunch will be resolved by Friday.
He also added that the currency is being sent to states facing shortage of notes. However, an SBI research estimates that Rs 15,291 billion notes were withdrawn from the ATMs through debit cards in the second half of Financial Year 2018, which is a good 12.2 percent growth over the previous six months.
The research also pointed that a part of the reason could be the introduction and faster acceleration in printing of Rs 200 notes. A cash crunch at ATMs has hit a dozen states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and poll bound Karnataka.
