Thiruvananthapuram: The DNA result on the samples taken from the recovered body from Kovalam confirmed it was that of Latvian tourist, Liga Skromene.
The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Bio-Technology (RGCB) in Thiruvananthapuram conducted the DNA test and submitted the report in a sealed cover to the Sub-Judicial Magistrate court here.
The Institute sources said that the blood sample of the victim’s sister, Ilze and a bone sample from the recovered body was tested and “it was 100 percent match.” As the tissues got decomposed, the bone sample was taken for DNA test.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government announced a solatium of Rs. Five lakh amount to the family of Liga Skromene and it was handed over to them by the State Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran.
