
Thiruvananathpuram : Muslims in Kerala will celebrate Eid ul Fitr on Friday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan spent in day long fast, prayer and charity.
In Kerala, Eid is being celebrated today as the moon was sighted in Kozhikode and the rest of the India will celebrate the Eid on Saturday. Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, symbolises peace and brotherhood.
The festival is marked with feasts and the faithful offers prayers at mosques and idgahs to seek blessings of the divine.
People, especially children dress up in their traditional fineries to mark the festival that spreads the message of brotherhood and communal amity.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and leaders of different political parties also extended Eid greetings to the people. ( With inputs from PTI
