Kerala Catholic Church diocese is now facing a trial of biblical proportions. Starting from the controversy over the land dealings by one of top functionaries of the Catholic church in India to the direct intervention of Vatican in the issue, hell broke loose among diocese and laity. With the move, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry just became a nominal member as his responsibilities entrusted with the apostolic administrator.
In the backdrop of the events, an article wrote by Fr Paul Thelakkat, the former spokesperson of the Archdiocese in Mangalam Daily is gaining momentum in several aspects. Comparing the whole scenario to a football match, Fr Thelakkat is pointing that the Vatican has blown the final whistle to end the game in Syro Malabar Church. Taking a dig at Mar Alencherry, he even said that some players even got the red card.
Commenting on the row that even turned the laity against the archdiocese, he added that one should not try to play their 'own game' in such a place. Reminding the 'rules', Fr Thelakkattu even refers quotes from George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' regarding the laws of equality. Citing an instance from the 'Book of John', Fr Thelakkat concludes the article by explaining the ultimate goal of the game in which one have to battle with oneself, not with the enemy.
