Idukki : At least 37 people lost their lives in the torrential rains and landslides that have ravaged Kerala. More than half of the 14 districts in Kerala have been put on alert. But for Mohanan, an Idukki native could have faced the same fate if it wasn't for the their pet dog Rocky.
Idukki was among the place where the landslides claimed the life of more than 15 people. On last day, Mohanan was disturbed by Rocky's barking and howling during the wee hours on Sunday.
Even though he decided to brush it off initially, the dog's continued howling evoked the family to go outside to check him. Within a few minutes, a landslide smashed their home.
If it wasn't for Rocky, they would have not witnessed the sunrise. Mohanan and his family is currently staying in the relief camp. Meanwhile, the canine who saved his owner's family is currently the star of Idukki.
