New Delhi : Assamese movie 'Village Rockstars', directed by Rima Das has been selected as India's official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Category at the Oscars.
The 12-membered jury of Film Federation of India, announced the decision on Saturday after watching 29 entries. The committee was headed by Kannada producer and director Rajendra Babu and held its deliberations in Mumbai.
Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017, 'Village Rockstars' tells the story of Dhunu, a small girl who dreams about becoming a guitarist. The movie also won the Best Feature film award at the 65th National Film Awards
29 films including Raazi, Padmaavat, Hichki, October, Love Sonia, 102 Not, Mahanati, Bhayankam, directed by Jayaraj were submitted as nominations. The 91st Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2019.
