Kottayam : The Kottayam Additional Session court on Wednesday ruled that the murder of Kevin Joseph, a young man from Kottayam who was kidnapped and murdered by his lover's family as a case of honour killing.
The court also directed prosecution to complete the proceedings within six months. The police and the prosecution informed the court that it was a clear case of honour killing. They pointed that Kevin, a dalit christian who fell in love with Neenu Chacko from a higher case was forced to jump into a river to escape them.
Kevin was kidnapped and later his body was found floating in Chaliyekar river at Thenmala, Kollam. The police have charged 14 accused with culpable homicide, kidnapping, bargaining, conspiracy and breaking into the house among other offences.
