
Kochi : The Central government has approved an additional aid of Rs 3,048 Crore rupees as flood relief to Kerala which was hit by the worst natural disaster in a century.
The decision was taken in a high level committee headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The Kerala had earlier sought Rs 4,800 Crore sought by the Kerala Government to rebuild the state following the flood, that claimed 483 lives. In August, the Centre had sanctioned an advance of Rs 600 crore for relief.
The Kerala government in September had submitted a memorandum to the Centre seeking Rs 4,800 crore for relief work. The memorandum included all the details about the loss of human life, property, infrastructure and damage to crops.
