Thiruvananathapuram : In a clear case of favoritism, the LDF led state government has given a fine relaxation to former Minister Thomas Chandy, in the controversial Lake Palace resort case.
Dismissing the decision of Alappuzha municipal council, Local Self Government Additional Chief Secretary ordered to slash the penalty to 34 Lakhs.
The municipality had slapped a fine of Rs 1.17 Crore fine for constructing structures in the resort beyond the permissible limit.
In November 2018, the municipality issued a provisional order to the Water World Tourism Company, promoters of the resort, to demolish or regularise the unautീലചhorised buildings.
