Kottayam : The Kottayam Principal Sessions Court has awarded double life term for all 10 convicts in the sensational Kevin murder case.
In a first ever honour killing that reported in the state, the court considered it as 'rarest of rare' cases. Charges including murder, Kidnapping and trespassing were slapped against them. Besides the life term, the court also slapped a fine of Rs 40,000 against them. Both life terms can be served together.
Even though the prosecution demanded death sentence for the convicts, the court observed their age and the lack of previous criminal records. The court also directed that One Lakhs rupees from the fine should be handed over to Aneesh, the key witness in the case and rest should be divided and given to Neenu and Kevin's father Joseph.
Sanu Chacko, brother of Kevin's fiancee Neenu, Niyas Moran, Ishan Ismail, Riyas, Manu, Shefin, Nishad, Fazil and Shanu Shajahan. Kevin P Joseph , a 24-year-old Dalit Christian Youth from Kottayam was abducted and murdered by Sanu and team in May , 2018.
