2019 is almost over and lets take a loot that have happend in the past year !
Kerala in 2019
Sabarimala Women entry
The God's own country started the year with women entering the sacred Sabarimala temple defying protests on 2 January, which resulted in wide spread protests from devotees across the state. The Supreme Court later handed the Sabarimala case to a larger bench on Nov 14.
By elections
In 2019, six assembly by-elections were held to the Kerala Niamasabha on 23 September and 21 October, which consists of 140 constituencies in total.
The first phase was conducted on 23 September for Pala Constituency. The remaining 5 assembly constituencies ( Manjeshwaram, Ernakulam, Aroor, Ernakulam, Konni and Vattiyoorkavu ) voted to elect their representatives on 21 October.
The ruling CPI(M)-led LDF registered impressive wins at Vattiyoorkavu and Konni, the two strongholds of the Congress headed UDF, while the opposition front retained the Aroor seat in the October 21 bypolls to the five assembly seats in Kerala.
2019 Kerala Floods
As of 14 August 2019 people have been killed due to the floods across the state of Kerala. Over 2 lakh people have been directly affected by the flood, and have been shifted to 1318 relief camps in different parts of Kerala.

For the second time in a row, Kerala has emerged as the top ranking state in terms of overall health performance, according to second health index launched by NITI Aayog.
Rahul Gandhi and Wayanad Election
Rahul Gandhi's star candidature from Wayanad constituency hogged the headlines in addition to Amethi. He won with a record margin of 431,770 votes.

Crime Cases
The state witnessed some bone chilling crimes including the Koodathai serial murders and Journalist KM Basheer's case after former IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman hit and killed the journalist.
The murder of the Walayar sisters also haunted the conscious of Keralalites after the court acquitted the convicts. After facing protests from various corners, the state government ordered a judicial probe into the case.
Maradu Flat Controversies.
The demolition of a group of apartments in Maradu Municipality in Ernakulam district has been framed both as a tug of war between environmentalists and investors, and between two different arms of the government.

'Peranbu' tops IMDb
Mammootty starer 'Peranmbu' was named as the top Indian movie of 2019 in a list released by IMDb which is determined by visitors' ratings. The other top-rated films are Uri: The Surgical Strike which got second place; Gully Boy and Article 15 at third and fourth places respectively. Chhichhore, Super 30, Badla, The Tashkent Files, Kesari and Lucifer are the other films that made it to the list.
National Awards
The 66th National Award for Best Feature Film went to Gujarati movie 'Hellaro', based on women in Kutch. Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana shared the award for Best Actor for their performances in 'Uri' and 'Andhadhun' respectively, while Malayalam actress Keerthy Suresh took home the National Award for Best Actress for the Telugu film 'Mahanati Sudani from Nigeria was the best Malayalam movie
Joju George’s days keep getting better as the actor has followed his State award win with a special jury mention at the National level. Joju along with Sruthi Hariharan (Nathicharami), Chandrachud Rai and Savithri Sreedharan (Sudani From Nigeria) were honoured with a special mention for their performances.
'Uri' director Aditya Dhar won in the Best Director category. The Indira Gandhi award for Best Debut Film of a director went to Marathi film 'Naal' by film-maker Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti.Surekha Sikri's performance in 'Badhaai Ho' won her the award for Best Supporting Actress, while lyricist-actor Swanand Kirkire bagged the award for Best Supporting Actor for Marathi film 'Chumbak'. Sriram Raghavan's critically-acclaimed 'Andhadhun' won the award for the Best Hindi movie. The film was also named winner in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.

Ayodhya Judgment
Also the final Judgment in the Ayodhya dispute was declared by the Supreme Court of India on 9 November 2019. The court also ordered to hand over the disputed land to trust to build the Ram Janmabhoomi. The court also ordered the government to give an alternate 5 acre of land in another place to the Sunni Waqf Board to build a mosque.
Citizenship Amendment Act
The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was passed by the on 11 December 2019. It amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities fleeing persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The nation saw widespread protest all over the implementation of the bill citing it was unconstitutional.
