The Kerala State Electricity Board on Wednesday informed the High Court that they did not charged hefty electricity bill to their consumers.
In an affidavit filed in HC, KSEB said that It was not possible to get the reading due to the covid lockdown.
So they bills were generated by looking at the users’ consumption trend of the previous two months.
Once the next meter reading is done in two months, the actual consumption will be known and necessary adjustments would be made in the bills that will be generated, the board said.
Meanwhile, the KSEB also informed that it was not possible to reinstate the monthly bill system, due to the cost that will falls upon the electricity board.
In the two-month bills, the one-month consumption is calculated by taking the average of the electricity used till the reading date.
