
The Tamil Nadu government has announced an extension of the existing lockdown in the state till the end of August, though with certain relaxations.
“All five Sundays in August will have total shutdown, without any relaxations,” Chief Minister K Palaniswami said.
The announcement came a day after Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 tally jumped to 2,34,114 on Wednesday, with 6,426 new cases being recorded. The death toll in the state stands at 3,741, with 82 fatalities reported yesterday.
