The Telengana police on Tuesday arrested a self-styled sorcerer who allegedly beat up a 24-year old woman during exorcism resulting in her death.
The victim, Kanukuntla Rajitha, mother of a two-month old baby girl, succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Karimnagar town on Monday night.
A video of Rajitha, the victim being brutually beaten up by Shyam on the pretext of driving away evil spirits from her surfaced in the social media on Monday.
According to the police, her in-laws approached sorcerer Shyam after Rajitha was being unwell for a long time. Even though she was rushed to a hospital following the brutal torture, she succumbed to her injuries.
