
After facing the worst flood last year, residents of Aluva are on the brink of another deluge as the water level rose in the Periyar River at an alarming rate on Thursday evening.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and measures are in place to evacuate residents in case of an emergency.
As the heavy rain continues to lash, control rooms and relief camps were opened in Ernakulam. Kerala is among the six states warned of potential floods by the National Water Commission.
In North Kerala’s Kannur, water levels were rising in Barapuzha, after a landslide was reported in Brahmagiri forest. Landslides were also reported on Idukki in Four places on Thursday night.
