Dr. N Gopalakrishnan said that the new 2000 rupee note is not embedded with a chip but it does contain nano-GPS technology.
He explained that the nano materials used in the notes are signal reflectors which help to identify their location and serial numbers. But the government has not yet revealed which nano material is used, he said.
According to him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given directions to the RBI regarding the new notes last year itself and had said that Indian paper and technology must be used for their manufacture.
