The BJP is firmly ahead in Uttar Pradesh and AAP has taken a strong lead in Punjab in very early trends from the counting of votes in five states.
BJP is ahead of the Congress in close fights in Goa and Uttarakhand.
The election recorded a voter turnout of 65.37 per cent, with 67.20 per cent female voters and 62.6 per cent male voters. Notably, exit polls have predicted a hung house in Uttarakhand with Congress and BJP in close fight, while the leaders of both the parties have exuded confidence of winning the elections this time.
Voting for the 70-member Uttarakhand assembly took place in a single phase on February 14.
