Thiruvananthapuram: Five persons including a women has been taken into custody on Monday for not standing up when the national anthem was played before the screening of a film at the International Film Festival of Kerala ( IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram.
The delegates disrespected the national anthem during the screening of the movie 'Clash'. Last day the Bharathiya Yuva Morcha activists complained to the DGP that some of the delegates did not stand up when the national anthem was played in the theatre.
Meanwhile writer and director Joy Mathew said that though one can have the difference of opinion on playing national anthem in theaters, one should not show disrespect to the national anthem. He also added that those who disrespect the national anthem should not accept any benefits from this country.
