Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O.Paneerselvam will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to urge him to confer the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India, on the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. He will also hand over a letter to PM to unveil a bronze statue of Jayalalithaa in the Parliament Complex.
The decision to make both these recommendations to the Centre was taken at the first cabinet meeting chaired by Paneerselvam after Jayalalithaa’s demise.
He will also ask the PM for financial aid of 1000 crore rupees for relief and rehabilitation works after the devastating Cyclone Vardah.
