Thiruvananthapuram: V.S Achuthananthan has written to the CPM national leadership asking for the removal of M.M Mani from the post of Kerala minister. The development comes after the Thodupuzha Additional District Sessions Court rejected Mani’s plea to remove him from the list of accused in the Anchery Baby murder case.
Mani is the second accused in the 35-year-old murder case. The court had also directed the prosecution to include CPM district Secretary K.K Jayachandran and CITU leader K.K Damodaran in the list of accused.
Though Achuthananthan had earlier written to the party state secretariat demanding Mani’s removal, party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had maintained that there is no need for Mani to resign. At this point, Achuthananthan wrote to the national leadership which also strengthens the Opposition’s demand that Mani must be sacked.
