Mohanlal has acted in several films by director Fazil which went on to became huge hits. Still, there is one Fazil film that Mohanlal refused but became a hit in three languages.
After the success of ‘Manjil virinja pookkal’ and ‘Nokketha doorathu kannum nattu’, Fazil told Mohanlal the story of a serial killer. But, with his image as a people’s favourite actor, Mohanlal was apprehensive of doing the role of a serial killer and thus refused it.
Fazil made a few modifications in the story and made the film ‘Killer’ with Telugu actor Nagarjuna in the lead. It became a huge success in Andhra Pradesh and was subsequently released in Tamil and Hindi as ‘Eswar’ and ‘Sabse Bada Mawali’.
