Director Jayaraj revealed that he had approached actor Mohanlal with the lead role in his now running big budget film ‘Veeram’ which has been receiving a positive response from the audience.
Jayaraj said that he had first approached Mohanlal with the lead role of Chandu and had handed over the screenplay to him. But there was no response from Mohanlal’s side.
Later, the directed auditioned about 4000 actors for the role but did not find anyone suitable. In the end, he hit upon the Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor who became Chandu Chekavar, the folktale warrior of North Malabar.
