Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Kammittipaadam’, which tells the story of struggling ordinary citizens in Kochi city, has propelled two of its actors to state film awards. While Vinayakan bagged the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Ganga, Manikandan Achary won the Best Character Actor award for his role as Balan in the film.
Vinayakan and Manikandan, who both struggled to reach the limelight, are representatives of the urbanisation victims portrayed in ‘Kammattipaadam’.
In between his journey from the Chambakkara fish market to the film, Manikandan was a drama actor wandering all over India, including the India-China border. Responding to the award, Vinayakan said he was very happy and will act till his death.
