New Delhi: Pointing the clear conflict between the Muslim personal law and POCSO act, the Delhi High Court on last day acquitted a 18-year-old Muslim man who faced charges under section of POCSO act for marrying a 15-year-old minor girl.
The FIR was filed under the sections of POCSO act based on a complaint by the girl's mother who said that the boy kidnapped the girl. Later the girl was sent to a rescue shelter after she refused to go along with her parents.
The Muslim personal law allows the legal marriage of 15-year-old girl and the court pointed that POCSO Act was inadequate from stopping the sexual exploitation of minor girls.
