Dehradun: Uttarakhand Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that, to stay in Uttarakhand, one must sing the national anthem and the national song.
He said that both ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ must be compulsorily sung at schools and colleges. The national anthem must be sung at 10:00 in the morning and ‘Vande Mataram’ at 4:00 in the evening.
After the remarks became controversial, the Minister maintained that his statements were misinterpreted by the media.
