Cairo: Egypt banned 21 websites including the Qater-based Al Jazeera television for spreading terrorism and fake news. Five of the banned websites were local media.
Previously, Saudi Arabia and UAE had also banned Al Jazeera and other websites following a dispute with Qatar.
Though Egyptian authorities did not confirm or deny the news, security sources were reported as saying that the websites were banned for their affiliation with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood or for being funded by Qatar.
