President Donald Trump's Twitter account on last day disappeared for several minutes and returned to normal. It was not initially clear what happened to the account, and Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a series of tweets issued by Twitter Government and Election team, the company first blamed human error, then attributed the move on a rogue employee who used their last day of the job to boot the system at the office.
Trump has made extensive use of messages on Twitter to attack his opponents and promote his policies both during the 2016 presidential campaign and since taking office in January. He has 41.7 million followers on Twitter.
Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review. https://t.co/mlarOgiaRF
