Venjaramoodu: As the temperature soars, tender coconut tops many people's list of healthy thirst-quenchers. With the huge demand, tender coconuts from Tamil Nadu were reaching Kerala for a more profitable business.
And as the demand soars, the prices have touched Rs 30-40 for a coconut. But these tender coconuts are less tastier, unlike the ones from Kerala. The coconuts were arriving mainly from Nagarkovil and Tenkasi.
There were also reports that high amount of pesticides were used in the coconut trees during the cultivation. Despite the reports no inspections were made for checking the quality of tender coconuts for the sales.
