Intel set a Guinness world record in November 2015 for the most 'unmanned Aerial vehicles airborne simultaneously', by releasing 100 drones in the sky during a musical performance in Tornesch, Germany. Now, the company has done it again, with five times the number of drones.
With brand names showing in hovering flashing lights, using a fleet of drones to create light shows could pave a new way for a new form of advertising. As part of the attempt, the Silicon Valley tech giant used the drones to spell out its logo in light in the night sky.
For the mesmerizing event, the drones were co-ordinated with flight planning softwares, plotting the display. Now the Intel had already obtained an advertisement contract from the America's Federal Aviation Administration.
Intel also purchased 'MAVinchi', the German firm behind the advanced flight planning software. At just 280 gms, the drones can stay in the air for up to 20 min and can even fly in the rain. Forget flash mobs, the latest advertisement could be seen in drones using flash boards.
