Donald Trump named as Time's 'Person of the Year'

After a surprise win and contentious race to clinch the presidency, Donald trump was named as the Time's magazine 'person of the year' 2016. In the race, Trump beat out 10 other finalists including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Others who had been won the title in the previous years include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bill and Melina Gates. TIME's announcement comes just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the magazines on line readers poll for the person of the year 2016.
